What guides people, material or spiritual? Since the world began, the answer has divided men and their leaders.
A society driven by materialistic goals is only able to achieve miserable objectives, it is a sum of selfishness, is the subject of domineering, a society destined to fragmentation.
A society guided by spiritual altruistic goals is able to rise to unknown and lofty worlds; it can build happiness knowing its greatness, it stops being a consumption machine, slave animal of its own appetites.
When Bolivar was in Monte Sacro he dreamt about the motive of his venture, it could only be spiritual; he resigned to his wealth, and with his word he lighted up the heart of an entire continent driving it to independence territories.
Martí fought an Empire with his poetry; he sowed in his country the glory of freedom and sovereignty. He taught that only with a high altruistic spirit and with heightened awareness of the ordinary would be destine to great tasks, and they will astonish the world. He invited it to rise from the mean town to the hometown, “Hometown is humanity.”
February 4th was a lighting of memory where we came from. Altruism then devastated by pragmatism, opportunism and calculating selfishness, gave away the scene changing the heroic sacrifice and individualism to what is collective. A group of young people embodied the Spirit of Simon Bolivar, from Saman de Güere; they greatly raised to light up with their detachment the rest of the nation.
The leaders that have called for the material can only get unable mercenaries to take the sky by storm, to leave a trace; they just reap the ingratitude of the hungry beast they have created.
For us it is not an academic discussion, depending on the answer, depending on what parts from there, is the course and life of this society and continent, which looks forward with excitement our steps, the steps of hope.
Che already knew and alerted us: the jagged weapons of Capitalism do not build Socialism. This is different to say that materialism can not be the motive to build the new world. Fidel sentenced: build consciousness with richness and never pretend that richness builds consciousness.
The material is not a prerequisite to feel love; love must lead the conquest of material, or rather, in the construction of material must be implied the elevation of love. Only by doing this we can break out the chains of Capitalist slavery, which essentially are spiritual chains.
The responsibility that this Revolution has for the planet’s life, to change the suicidal direction of Capitalism, makes us to take the risk and walk the beautiful adventure and fight for spiritual reasons, the ones that make us more human, the ones that will save species and life.
With Chávez all, without him nothing!!
